Ateknea at inspire conference 2016!

Over the past decades the European Union has put in place a broad range of environmental legislation to protect, preserve and improve Europe’s environment for present and future generations. However, many challenges persist and these must be tackled together in a structured way.

The 7th Environment Action Programme (EAP), guiding European environment policy until 2020, identifies the priority areas where more action is needed and ascertains INSPIRE as one of the instruments of the enabling framework to meet these goals.

As part of the pioneers Citizens Observatories project, Ateknea actively participated in the challenges of the VGI and Citizen Observatories INSPIRE Hack.

The new CO projects had the opportunity to learn from past experiences and solve together the common issues of the first CO projects.

In the same line, Ateknea presented the new air monitoring platform http://aacm.ateknea.com/ in order to contribute to future CO projects.

PHENOLIVE Meeting in Mora

The last 22nd June all the developers of the PHENOLIVE technology met in Mora (Toledo, Spain) to show the final outcomes of the project.

The Life Cycle Analisys of the technology was presented and the extraction yield of polyphenols of the developed technology after the industrial tests were shown. The Partners agreed they are very good results and the SMEs discussed about the future exploitation of the results moving towards the commercialization of the technology and its applications.

The meeting was organized by MORA INDUSTRIAL, S.A. where the prototype is installed. The partners visited their facilities and the PHENOLIVE prototype as well.

The project will finalise at the end of month with very good results.

Ateknea at The European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE)

The European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) is a world class annual event which, since 1980, is held at different venues throughout Europe.

The EUBCE covers the entire value chain of biomass to conduct business, network, and to present and discuss the latest developments and innovations, the vision is to educate the biomass community and to accelerate growth. The EUBCE will host a dynamic international Exhibition for companies and research labs to showcase their latest products and bringing scientists, technologists and key players together with leading Biomass industries and organizations.

20160607_165537

This year Ateknea has been part of the event, making a presentation on the industry topic and showing DEPURGAN project. The DEPURGAN project aims to bring to the market an efficient pig manure treatment process, with an initial investment 4 times lower compared to other solutions and operation costs being also very competitive. It base its innovative character in the use of an optimized electrocoagulation reactor, that allows nitrogen abatement, while producing as residues a solid fraction that poses great calorific potential as biomass.

Open Demonstration Event by BIOECOSIM

Around 1800 million tonnes of manure are produced in Europe every year. In regions with intensive animal husbandry, this could cause environmental, social and economic challenges.

An impasse?
In the EU-funded project BioEcoSIM led by Fraunhofer IGB, 15 partners from research and industry developed a technology to convert livestock manure into organic soil improvers and mineral fertilisers. The overall process uses energy-efficient technologies and works on the principle of circular economy. The technology prototype is capable of processing 50 kg of raw manure per hour into fertilizers and organic soil improvers. The products obtained have excellent quality as fertilizers and can then be mixed to match the nutritional requirements of any crop.

The problem turns into a market perspective!
The project consortium will present its results and the pilot plant on 14th June 2016 in Kupferzell (Germany) at the installations of one of the project partners, Agro Energie GmbH.
Ateknea would like to encourage you to visit this innovative pilot plant. Next to the presentation and visit of the prototype, there will be expert presentations and workshops allowing mutual experience exchanges between different interest group representatives from the agro economic sector.

Vinbot on Horizon Magazine!

Europe’s warming climate is affecting wine stability.

With warmer winters and drier summers, climate change might even be having an effect on your favourite bottle of wine.

Winemakers are already witnessing changes. In France, the Burgundy region had its driest July in 66 years in 2015, while Italian producers are planting different grape varieties due to more intense summers.

Horizon Magazine know about that problem and made a special mention to our project Vinbot, las week in his online publication. The article indicated how Vinbot helps our winegrower to get a greater control of his vineyards, and how it improve the accuracy of measurements with an all-terrain, autonomous rover that scans the leaves of the vineyard with greater accuracy.

Ateknea at Eureka Innovation Week!

Ateknea Solutions participates this week in the Eureka Innovation Week, Sweden.

EUREKA is a publicly-funded, intergovernmental network, involving over 40 countries. EUREKA’s aim is to enhance European competitiveness by fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship in Europe between small and large industries, research institutes and universities. By doing this, EUREKA concentrates the existing potential of experts, knowledge, research facilities and financial resources in a more efficient way.

Ateknea will join this event as the only Spanish representative, being part of two sessions of PICTH: Euripides (today), and CELTIC-PLUS (tomorrow).

We will introduce our company, and our services, in addition we will do a presentation of one of our projects, CitiSense.  Ateknea will be taking part in B2B meetings with more than 15 other companies across the world.

The CITI-SENSE Citizens’ Observatories Web Portal is now open. Welcome!

The CITI-SENSE Citizens’ Observatories Web portal – A gateway to the Citizens’ Observatories Toolbox (COT) is now open at http://co.citi-sense.eu/

hands_participate_smaller

The portal has been designed as access point for citizens to the tools and products developed by CITI-SENSE, including data and information which might be useful for them. On the other side, the portal is also providing a forum for all users to upload their own observations, share them and discuss.

The COT is supposed to support anyone in designing, setting up and carrying out their own Citizens’ Observatory.

Visit FoAM-BUILD At Ecobuild

Representatives of the FoAM-BUILD consortium will be attending Ecobuild 2016, the leading exhibition and conference for the UK construction and energy market, from 8th to 10th March at ExCeL in London.

FoAM-BUILD, the four year European project to develop next generation External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) for new builds and retrofitting applications is now entering its final two years and has already achieved promising results.

One of the most recent developments is the setting up of a ventilation test façade at DAW (Deutsche Amphibolin-Werke von Robert Murjahn Stiftung & Co KG), who are responsible for the scale up for the production of new and improved thermal insulation materials made of expanded particle foam such as EPS.  This test façade will be used to run an experiment over the next four months which will involve the recording of ambient conditions in order to demonstrate how weather conditions affect the growth of micro-organisms on façades.

Another development is the creation of a sensor sensitive to both temperature and moisture on the ETICS surface.  Results to-date show fast detection of changes in humidity on the surface of ETICS.

To discover more about FoAM-BUILD, visit the Smithers Rapra stand, number E4109, where more information will be available or visit the website at www.foambuild.eu

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration.
